Macarthur Anglican School began its GATEway Programme in 2005. GATEway (Gifted and Talented Education) Macarthur is a challenging and academically rigorous programme for gifted and talented students in Year 5 and 6. It provides a fast-paced differentiated curriculum, where students develop a greater depth of knowledge and apply abstract reasoning skills to complex issues. GATEway Macarthur aims to provide an intellectually stimulating learning environment which challenges and inspires students and fosters their love of learning.
As a Christian school, Macarthur endeavours to care for all students and challenges them to achieve to their potential. Students accepted into GATEway Macarthur are expected to be actively involved in the wider life of the school, using their abilities for the benefit of others.
Selection and Registration For GATEway
Selection testing for GATEway Macarthur takes place each year. Students may apply to enter the programme from the beginning of Year 5 or from the beginning of Year 6. Requests to join the programme through the year will also be considered.
Apart from the testing, the process will include consideration of other supporting documentation, such as the candidate's school reports and awards, and may also include an interview. Any interviews deemed necessary will take place after the testing day.
Bursary opportunities are available for low-income families. Scholarships are not offered for this programme. However, GATEway students may apply for a scholarship for Year 7.
For further information about the GATEway programme, please contact the Dean of Studies, on 4647 5333.
