Debating and Public Speaking

Debating and Public Speaking opportunities exist for students from Year 3 to Year 12. These students are coached by an experienced staff member who assists them to develop their debating and public speaking skills.

These students have the opportunity to compete in local competitions, against other independent schools and in statewide competitions like the Quota Youth of the Year competition, Sydney Morning Herald Plain English Speaking Competition and the Legacy Public Speaking competition.

The annual Public Speaking event, Talk it Up is the culmination of several weeks of class and year group competition for children from Year 3 to Year 6. The children learn about preparing and delivering a speech, growing in self confidence with each effort. A number of public speaking opportunities are available in local competitions such as Mayor for a Day, conducted by Camden Council.
