From Kindergarten to Year 8 students study a set curriculum largely determined by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and the School. From Year 9 students begin to elect subjects they wish to pursue. All the subjects offered at Macarthur are designed to assist students to matriculate and proceed to future tertiary study.
Year 9 and Year 10 study some compulsory subjects as well as elective subjects:

Students choose three electives from the following list of subjects:

Year 11 and 12 choose a range of subjects for their Higher School Certificate (HSC). English is a compulsory subject for the award of an HSC. Students choose English plus 5 other subjects in Year 11.
